Il Centro

My wonderful mama has come over to play for a few weeks, so naturally the first thing we did was hit the shops on Queen Street Mall and shopped til we dropped.

Our search for sustenance lead us to Il Centro, a classic Italian at Eagle Street Pier with wonderful panoramic views of the Story Bridge.

Spring is the perfect temperature in Brisbane, so we sat out in the sunshine and enjoyed some cold prosecco in the warm breeze.

I started with my favourite – caprese salad, and mum had the calamari. Both beautiful light flavours, perfect with bubbles.

Next I had their famous sand crab lasagne. I went for the small size and still couldn’t finish it, it’s delicious but very very rich. Mum had the beef ragout. And what’s a mother daughter lunch without some wine!

The food here is classically well done Italian and I definitely recommend a visit.

Stuffed to the gills we hopped in a taxi home and spent the afternoon sofa-bound watching It’s Complicated, our fave!
