50 Things to do in Brisbane

In Brisbane and at a loose end? Look no further, I’ve got you covered!

  1. Go to the lookout at Mt Cootha for amazing views of the city. Throw in dinner at the Summit restaurant too if you’re feeling fancy.
  2. Abseil down the cliffs at Kangaroo point.
  3. Climb the Story Bridge. 1 of only 3 bridge climbs in the southern hemisphere (apparently)
  4. Have drinks at Stokehouse Q.
  5. Soak up the sun and have a dip at Streets Beach, South Bank.
  6. Go for brekky at Hundred Acre Bar in St Lucia and enjoy the views. Try and snag a table upstairs if the weather is nice!
  7. Get some culture and visit the museums – GOMA, Queensland Museum, & Queensland Art Gallery.
  8. Try all the cocktails at Eleven Rooftop Bar in the valley.
  9. Pack a picnic, some beverages and a frisbee and settle in at New Farm Park for a chilled afternoon.
  10. Take a drive up the coast and climb Mt Coolum – tough but the views are worth it.
  11. Play barefoot bowls and have a few cold ones at Merthyr Bowls Club on the river.
  12. Go try the pork knuckle at The German Club or the Bavarian Bier Cafe.
  13. Have drinks at RiverBar at Eagle Street and watch the Story Bridge light up at night.
  14. Hop in the car and go wine tasting at Sirromet. Highly recommend lunch at the Tuscan Terrace restaurant too.
  15. Do the walk from the Powerhouse all the way along the river into the city.
  16. Have a Sunday sesh at Eatons Hill Hotel.
  17. Get a seriously tasty picnic from Botanica and go enjoy it in Roma Street Parklands.
  18. Drive up to Sandgate, take a stroll along the pier and enjoy some fish and chips on the sea front whilst watching the kite surfers.
  19. Take a walk along Oxford Street in the evening and see which of the many restaurants and bars take your fancy! The laksa at Vietnamese Mint is yum.
  20. Go for a bike ride along Kedron Brook bikeway and finish up with breakfast at Elixir Coffee in Stafford.
  21. Try the couples Opal Rasul Temple Experience at Stephanie’s Spa Retreat.
  22. Replace all the toxins you sweated out with a big bowl of pasta and a glass of wine at Vapiano in the CBD.
  23. Don your lederhosen and get ready for some serious prosting at Oktoberfest (in October….)
  24. Hop on The Vino Bus for a day of wine tasting at Mt Tamborine. Door to door service!
  25. Try the sandcrab lasagne at Il Centro in Eagle Street, it’s legendary for a reason.
  26. Go for high tea with champagne at Bacchus.
  27. Hop on the boat and spend the weekend at Tangalooma – swim, snorkel, and feed the dolphins.
  28. Be a tourist and go on the XXXX Brewery Tour.
  29. Spend your Friday night getting lost at Eat Street markets.
  30. Go watch a sports game at The Gabba – you must drink beer and eat hot chips to get the full experience. Then go have more drinks at The Pineapple afterwards.
  31. Spend the day hiking the trails of Mt Glorious.
  32. Join a segway tour of South Bank.
  33. Watch a movie al fresco at Moonlight Cinema in New Farm Park. Grab a beanbag and a snack and snuggle up with your favourite person.
  34. Late night craving? Go to Chester Street Bakery and try their amazing cakes and shakes. Open late.
  35. Refresh your artistic capabilities with the help of some wine at a painting class at Cork & Chroma in South Brisbane.
  36. Make room for some honey puffs and ouzo and head over to Paniyiri – Brisbane’s Greek festival held every May.
  37. Spend your Sunday morning wandering around Eagle Farm markets, sampling the delicacies and picking up some fresh blooms.
  38. Watch ice cream magic happen at Nitrogenie. Then eat the magic.
  39. Go on the Wheel of Brisbane followed by tapas and Sangria at Ole.
  40. Drive to Montville at have lunch at The Edge for some of the most spectacular views ever.
  41. Grab some snags and rock up at any of the public BBQ areas dotted around the city – Kangaroo point is a good spot with great views of the river.
  42. Hit James Street for some serious shopping followed by a cold glass of wine at Cru bar and lunch at Gerard’s Bistro.
  43. Book an outside table at Bar Alto on a sunny Sunday and enjoy an Italian feast overlooking the river and New Farm Park.
  44. Feeling fit? Join one of the city’s many park runs on a Saturday morning for a timed 5k run.
  45. Follow this with a well-deserved breakfast at Famished on Fraser’s in Ashgrove.
  46. Put a bet on at the Treasury Casino. Then console yourself with dinner at Fat Noodle by Luke Nguyen.
  47. Go for drinks in the Courtyard Bar at the Regatta Hotel in Toowong. Get some pizza while you’re there.
  48. Get an acai bowl from Kiss the Berry and sit in the parklands while you enjoy it.
  49. Watch a movie under the stars and in a hot tub on the roof of the Limes Hotel in the valley.
  50. Get your thinking cap on and brave the escape rooms at Escapism in the Wintergarden. Warning – is harder than you would anticipate!
